Bufford F. Hayes, 79, a Gardnerville resident for the past 25 years, died Sept. 27, 2004, at Carson Convalescent Center. He was born Dec. 5, 1924, in California to Frank and Reba Coffelt Hayes.
Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in California.
Mr. Hayes worked as a conservationist for the U.S. government. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons.
He served in the U.S. Navy for four years during World War II.
Among his survivors are his wife of 59 years, Marie, and son Kenny, both of Gardnerville; son Alan of California; and six grandchildren.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
