Grant Sims has been named manager of economic development for Sierra Pacific Power Company.
Sims joined Sierra Pacific in 1999 and has worked for the utility as a liaison with regional economic development authorities in northern Nevada and the state.
Sims has extensive experience in community development, serving as a Reno City Councilman and Washoe County Commissioner.
He has also served on the Regional Planning Governing Board, the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada board, and the Builders Association of Northern Nevada board.He is a member of the Regional Transportation Commission Hall of Fame.
Sims graduated from California State University, Sacramento, with a bachelor's degree in political science.
