Kay Dupuis

A graveside service for Kay Dupuis, 66, a Topaz Ranch Estates resident, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eastside Memorial Park.

A gathering to remember Mrs. Dupuis will follow burial 2:30-6 p.m. Wednesday an the CVIC Hall in Minden.

Mrs. Dupuis died April 21, 2005, of complications from breast cancer.

She was born Nov. 3, 1939, in Chetchk, Wis.

She met her husband Sam Dupuis in St. Louis, Mo., in 1977. The couple purchased property, which featured a World War II auxiliary airstrip and some old mobile homes, in Topaz Ranch Estates that same year.

Mrs. Dupuis delivered Meals on Wheels, worked at the sheriff's substation, was on the senior center board and the Tahoe-Minden Airport Advisory Committee.

As an active member of the community, Mrs. Dupuis attended Douglas County Commission and Planning Commission meetings regularly.

She was a board member of the Topaz Ranch Estates Property Owners Association, which she helped transform into the South County Association. She was chairwoman of the Topaz Ranch Estates General Improvement District when the district took over the water system when it needed to be repaired and no one else would buy it.

She was a member of the Topaz Ranch Estates Sage Hens, both Douglas County Republican women's clubs and the central committee, the Women's Veterans of Foreign Wars 3630.

Among her survivors are her husband, her mother and three sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carson Valley Community Food Closet or Douglas County Meals on Wheels.
