Three lucky hunters drawn for elk hunts

On Dec. 15, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong and Joe Bruno of the Carson City Sheriff's Office Mounted Unit drew three lucky winners in a special raffle for an all-expense-paid, fully-guided, Montana bull elk hunting trip in 2006.

That drawing was held at radio station CUB County 94.5 in Reno.

There were a total of 1,000 tickets available for the raffle.

The three winners are:

Cheryl Byars of Reno.

John Furgasen of Reno.

Dr. Fred Young of Carson City (he will be accompanied by his brother Ed, also of Carson City).

Each of the three lucky winners will be able to take one person with them on their hunt.

Each of the six individuals will receive $3,650 for the hunt, $1,000 for guaranteed hunting license and necessary tags, $500 for travel expenses and $400 for pocket money for a grand total of $5,550 per person!

The six hunters will go on a nine-day, combination elk and deer hunt on horseback in the world-famous Bob Marshall Wilderness Area.

That nine-day hunt includes one day of travel to reach base camp, seven full days of hunting and one day to come out.

The hunts are scheduled for Oct. 28 - Nov. 5, 2006 with the White Tail Ranch (WTR) Outfitters LLC of Ovando, Montana (406-793-5666).
