RENO - The interim chief of Nevada's higher education system said he believes University of Nevada, Reno President John Lilley is acting in good faith in the probe of animal abuse at the school's research farm and accusations of retaliation by a professor.
Speaking Monday on KRNV-TV's "Nevada Newsmakers," Jim Rogers said he won't prejudge the outcome of the probe by an outside agency.
"I think that Dr. Lilley has acted in good faith," Rogers said. "I think that he's made every effort ... possible to resolve these issues."
Rogers said he also spoke with Lilley about a hidden camera placed outside the laboratory of UNR Associate Professor Hussein S. Hussein, who complained about the treatment of animals at the university's research farm.
Hussein has two lawsuits pending against the university alleging retaliation for his complaint to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
