Eugene A. 'Gene' White

A funeral Mass for Eugene A. "Gene" White, 72, a Carson City resident for the past 52 years, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. White died Feb. 23, 2005, at his home. He was born March 16, 1932, in Bushnell, Ill., to William D. and Eva Derry White.

He graduated from Astoria High School in Astoria, Ill.

He married Betty Schulz Jan. 2, 1955. Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Astoria.

Mr. White started working for Nevada Department of Transportation with a survey crew in 1954. He retired Jan. 1, 1987, as a senior systems analyst for computers. He enjoyed the out-of-doors, fishing, bicycling and gardening. He was a member of St. Teresa Church.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years after high school.

He was preceded in death by three sons, one daughter and two brothers.

Among his survivors are his wife Elizabeth "Betty" of Carson City; daughter and son-in-law Charlene and Gary Hembree and daughter Deborah Jennings, all of Carson City; brother William of Beardstown, Ill.; and grandchildren Amelia and Charles Jennings and Cory and Jennifer Hembree.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church Building Fund.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
