James 'Jim' Strouse

Longtime Carson City resident James "Jim" Strouse, 85, died Feb. 25, 2005, in Carson City. He was born Nov. 4, 1919, in Bend, Ore., to James C. and Eva Williams Strouse.

He married Marian Mathews Aug. 30, 1942.

Mr. Strouse worked at the Carson Nugget as a security officer and for Cart-a-van as a change person.

He served as a private first class in the Pioneer Division of the 3rd Army Tank Destroyers in World War II in France and Germany.

He enjoyed woodworking and his many friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Diane R. Strouse-Baker and son James C., three brothers and four sisters.

Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; granddaughter Stephanie A. Baker-Mason of Salt Lake City; grandson Robert "Bobby" N. Baker and great-granddaughters Natasha L. and Mariah N. Baker of Sacrament; niece Velma L. Fisher and grand-nephew Matt Fisher of Carson City; and grand-niece Jenifer Fisher of Alaska.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.
