Joan L. Evans

A memorial service for Joan L. Evans, 70, a Carson City resident for the past 32 years, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Evans died Jan. 3, 2005, at her home. She was born March 6, 1934, in Helena, Mont., to Orlow Earl and Evelyn B. Stump Warren.

As a child, she moved to Richland, Wash., where she attended schools. She graduated from high school in Richland, earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash., and obtained a master's degree in theology.

She married Robert Evans.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in San Jose, Calif., for five years.

Mrs. Evans worked as a teacher's aide for more than 20 years. She was an active member and past noble grand of Capitol Rebekah Lodge 14 in Carson City and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carson City.

Among her survivors are her son, Daniel of Phoenix; daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Chris Wittek of Santa Rosa, Calif.; brothers Tom Warren of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Norman Warren of Spokane, Wash.

Memorial contributions may be made to Capitol Rebekah Lodge 14 or to the Diabetes Association.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
