DUI driver sends three to hospital

A Reno woman was arrested Sunday night on suspicion of drunken driving after a head-on collision on Highway 395 near Old Clear Creek Road.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the woman was northbound about 7:15 p.m. when she lost control of her Isuzu, traveled over the median, and struck a southbound Kia Optima.

When troopers arrived, a male passenger was outside the Kia holding a child in a car seat, said Trooper Don Dunmore.

The driver of the Kia, from Gardnerville, was taken by Care Flight helicopter to Washoe Medical Center. Two adults passengers were taken to Carson-Tahoe Hospital by ambulance, along with the child who was uninjured, Dunmore said.

The driver of the Isuzu was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of drunken driving.
