Teens arrested for vandalism with rifles in Silver Springs

SILVER SPRINGS - Two Lyon County teenagers were arrested Monday for allegedly shooting at parked cars and street lamps at Silver Stage High School.

Andrew Olson, 19, and an unnamed 15-year-old were charged with possession of a dangerous weapon on school grounds and malicious destruction of property worth $25,000 or more.

According to Deputy Paul VanDiver, police were called Sunday on a report of several vehicles being "shot up" at Seventh and Magnolia streets in Silver Springs.

Monday, officials from Silver Stage High reported at least three vehicles in their lot, windows, lighting and security cameras were shot out as well.

A resident told police he'd spotted a car in the area, which lead to Olson and the juvenile.

VanDiver said both teens allegedly admitted their involvement, and the two rifles suspected in the shootings were recovered.

Olson, a 2004 graduate of Silver Stage High, is being held on $16,000.
