Great Basin Federal Credit Union of Reno won first place in California and Nevada in a competition that recognizes leadership within the credit unions on behalf of youth financial literacy.
The credit union now will be entered into a national competition.
Great Basin Federal Credit Union developed customized financial education presentations in the seventh to 12th grades.
The credit union also held its second annual Youth Financial Workshop for its young members, teaching them the importance of saving early and building credit, how to read W-2s,W-4s, and pay stubs, and how to create a budget.
