Carson City

V&T Railway representative to speak at business breakfast

The NNDA Membership Breakfast Meeting will be July 27 at PiƱon Plaza. Doors open at 7 a.m., the buffet breakfast is at 7:15 a.m., and the meeting begins at 7:30 a.m.

Kevin Ray, executive director of the Nevada Commission to Reconstruct the Virginia & Truckee Railway, will be the guest speaker.

Effective with the July meeting, new breakfast rates are $20 for NNDA members, $30 for invited guests and $30 at the door,

Computer classes available at senior center

The Carson Senior Center will offer the next Introduction to Computers classes, starting July 25, twice a week for four weeks on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 9-11 a.m.

A second class will begin July 26, twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-3 p.m.

Class fee is $40 per person, payable at the Senior Center Business office.

Each class is limited to eight students and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Learn to cook using all-natural foods

A Carson City Community Center class will take a simple look at the science of diet and health and show how to make satisfying dishes using only whole-plant foods - green vegetables, fruit, beans, whole grains, nuts and seeds.

The class will be on Tuesdays from 6-7:30 p.m.

There will be a demonstration day, which includes a meal for $5.

Car show to benefit domestic violence advocacy group

Colonial Bank will host its seventh annual classic car show July 29 in benefit of Advocates to End Domestic Violence as part of a yearlong effort to aid the organization. The event will include a raffle and various games.

An estimated 150-200 cars are expected to attend and 18 awards will be given in various categories.

The event is 6-10 p.m. at the Park Lane Branch of Colonial Bank, 2330 S. Virginia St. in Reno. Awards will be announced around 8:30 p.m.

Gardnerville

Gallery to host anniversary reception

The East Fork Gallery in Gardnerville will host its 26th anniversary reception from noon-5 p.m. Sunday. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited.

Meet artists from Nevada. Watercolors, oils, acrylics, pottery, jewelry, paper sculpture, stained glass and other creations will be on display.
