Contractors fined for substandard workmanship

Three northern Nevada contractors were fined by the Nevada State Contractors Board this month for violations of state law.

Fined were Summit Homes of Gardnerville,Nevada Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing Inc.

of Reno and CPS Concrete of Reno.

Summit Homes was fined $2,000 for substandard workmanship and failure to make proper notifications to an owner.

The company, which handles residential and small commercial jobs, also must pay the cost of the investigation and was told to correct its problems with workmanship.

Nevada Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing Inc.,was fined $500 for failure to include its license number in advertising.

CPS Concrete, which holds licenses for concrete work and landscape contracting, was fined $1,000 for a series of violations that included poor workmanship,working beyond the scope of its licenses and failing to make proper disclosures to homeowners.

Along with the fine, the company will pay the cost of the investigation and pay restitution to homeowners.
