Don Butterfield has been named director of communications for Washoe Medical Center.
Butterfield is responsible for overseeing Washoe Med's internal and external communications and will manage a six-member staff.
He was previously the director of public relations and communications at St.Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe,N.M.
Prior to that he was the director of public relations and communications at Lovelace Sandia Health System/St.
Joseph Healthcare and the senior public affairs representative at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center.
He holds a master's degree in business administration and a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of New Mexico.
