Ex-development chief Shriver takes post with Grubb & Ellis

Bob Shriver, who quit as executive director of the Nevada Commission on Economic Development in June, last week joined Grubb & Ellis NCG as chief operating officer and business development manager.

Shriver said he'd worked closely with commercial real estate brokers during his stint at the commission on economic development as well as earlier jobs at the Northern Nevada Development Authority and Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada.

"I have a great appreciation for their role," he said."This is a logical next step."

At Grubb & Ellis, his responsibilities will range from support of the sales staff and marketing to participation in strategic planning.

"I'll be the public face for Grubb & Ellis in northern Nevada," Shriver said.

John Pinjuv, president of Grubb & Ellis NCG, said the addition of Shriver allows the company to extend its reach to more potential clients out of the region.

"Bob knows the world out there," Pinjuv said.

The company's divisions include office, retail, industrial, land and investment properties, and it operates offices in Reno and Carson City.

A Carson City native, Shriver headed the state agency for eight years.
