Katie Lake

A memorial service for Katie Lake, 21, a Minden resident, will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville.

Miss Lake died Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at her family home in Minden from complications from a lifelong illness.

She was born Sept. 11, 1983, in South Lake Tahoe. She excelled as a student at Tahoe Montessori, Zephyr Cove Elementary, Jacks Valley Elementary, Carson Valley Middle and Douglas High schools, where she graduated with honors. She was a sophomore at the University of Nevada, Reno, involved in many extracurricular activities, and had a flair for decorating and fashion. She planned to travel abroad to explore alternative medicine in hopes of healing herself and others.

Survivors include her parents Francine and Dennis Hartshorn, brothers Tommy Lake and Travis Hartshorn, sister Amanda Hartshorn, grandparents Frances Lucido, Brooke and Art Lake, and Catherine and Manual Taboada.

She was preceded in death by her birth father, Tom Lake, and grandfather Arasimo Lucido.
