Carson City

Bike Night coming up at blood services

United Blood Services and KOZZ host the fourth annual Bike Night blood drive from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Donors can win prizes, enjoy barbecue courtesy of Carson City Bar-B-Q from 4-7 p.m., and enter a raffle.

Harley-Davidson and Michael's Cycle Works are contributing prizes. McCoy's Motor Sports has donated two Dunlop Tires worth more than $200. Other prizes are two $25 gift certificates from Adventure Motostuff, a Wash & Wax kit from Kragen Auto and a "billiard" clock, a set of professional darts and a dart scoreboard from Capital City Billiards.

United Blood Services is also kicking off their "Cruizin' for Donors" summer promotion. All donors will be entered in a drawing for a four-day, three-night Carnival cruise for two and receive a free T-shirt. Visit United Blood Services in Carson City at 256 E. Winnie Lane or call 887-9111.

Raiders Booster Club holding rummage sale

The Carson City Raiders Booster Club will hold a rummage and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Nevada Appeal, 580 Mallory Way.

A variety of items will be available, including fresh baked goods. The sale will be in the loading dock area. Mallory Way is off Roop Street, directly behind Lowe's Home Improvement Center.

Funds raised will be used to "adopt" homebound seniors at Christmastime, through an arrangement with the Carson City Senior Citizens Center.

Booster Club membership is open to all football enthusiasts. The club will meeting for the 2005-06 season at Mulligan's, 2300 Highway 50 E. at Lompa Lane. Call 885-0877 or 450-7484.

Douglas County

Douglas Republicans meeting in Stateline

The Douglas County Republican Central Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Stateline Sheriff substation in Judge Glasson's courtroom, 175 Highway 50, Stateline. Coffee and social at 7 p.m. The meeting and guest speaker Tony Klein, who will speak about "Constitutional Limits on Government," begins at 7:30 p.m.

Virginia City

Ballet take the stage at Piper's Opera House

The Ballet Society of Nevada and the Dayton Dance Project present a performance at 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening at Piper's Opera House in Virginia City.

Approximately 100 dancers from Dayton, Reno, Douglas County and Carson will be included.

Featured ballets are the "Sea Fairies," based on the book by L. Frank Baum, and a jazz ballet, featuring the music of the '50s.

Tickets are $25 for two adults and four children, $15 for a single adult and $5 for a single child.

Proceeds go to Piper's Opera House for help in restoring the theater.
