Truck fire estimated at 75-100 acres

Crews are making good progress on the south and east sides of the Truck fire that started at 2 p.m. today northeast of Silver City, according to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.

Highway 341, the Truck Route between Silver City and Virginia City, is closed while crews battle a 75-100-acre brush fire.

Crews from the Storey County Fire Department, the Nevada Division of Forestry, the Bureau of Land Management and the Central Lyon County Fire District are on scene.

Resources include: two air tankers, one helicopter, four hand crews, 15 engines, one water tender, one dozer, 100 personnel and five command staff. Bucket work is in progress.

The National Weather Service in Reno reports winds blowing from the southwest at 38 mph.

No homes are threatened at this time, but the dispatch center said that could change if the wind shifts.
