BIG SPRINGS RESERVOIR, NEV: The 2005-2006 season will open on May 14.

• BLUE LAKES, CALIF. AREA: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930): "No fishing report for Blue Lakes. The wind was incredible yesterday ((Sunday). It had to be blowing more than 90 MPH over the ridge tops. We had an inch of snow this morning (Monday), KIrkwood got 8-10 inches and S.R. 88 is closed at the Carson Spur. We are still hoping for Spring."

BLUE LAKES, NEV: The 2005 season will open on June 11.

CAPLES LAKE, CALIF: No report.

CATNIP RESERVOIR, NEV: The 2005 season will open on Sept. 1.

COMINS LAKE, NEV: No report.

• DAVIS LAKE, CALIF: Was still covered with a thin layer of ice on Sunday. There was some water showing along the edges by the dam.

EAGLE LAKE, CALIF: The 2005 season will open on May 28.

• FT. CHURCHILL COOLING PONDS, NEV: Elmer Bull of the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) reported the fishing is rated as still on the slow side. He talked to a fisherman on Tuesday morning, who had caught 2 fish in 3 hours. He was fishing just under the surface with a Woolly Bugger fly. That same fisherman caught 8 fish in 4 hours, last week.

• FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR, CALIF: Wiggin's Trading Post at Chilcoot, Calif. (530-993-4683): "The fishing is good at the Dam and Big Cove. Use Power Bait, worms, lures such as Krocodile at the dam. Hike around the point behind the rocks. Roads are bad right now but should be OK in a week."

• HELL HOLE RESERVOIR, CALIF: Gene St. Denis of South Lake Tahoe reported that a fisherman caught a 10.5 pound (29.5 inches) German brown trout last Friday. His fishing party needed tire chains on all the tires of their four-wheel drive vehicle to reach the reservoir. This reservoir is the first large impoundment for the Rubicon River that flows out of the Desolation Wilderness, west of Lake Tahoe. In past years, the reservoir has been stocked with browns and Mackinaw trout by Calif. F&G.

• HINKSON SLOUGH, NEV: Elmer Bull reported that the fishing is still slow due to the weather. Not very many fishermen are venturing out.

HOBART RESERVOIR, NEV: The 2005 season will open on May 1.

• INDIAN CREEK RESERVOIR. CALIF: Dave Kirby reported that there is no ice on the reservoir, and overall, the fishing was fairly slow due to the full moon.

He said that 14-year-old Blake Thacker of Gardnerville caught an 8-pound rainbow on rainbow Power Bait, late Saturday afternoon.

Summit Lake (Above Indian Creek Reservoir): No report.

KNOTT CREEK RESERVOIR, NEV: The 2005 season will open on June 11.

• LAHONTAN RESERVOIR, NEV: Missy Swain at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750) reported:

"The Walleye are starting to spawn. A 6.5 pound Walleye was caught at Fisherman's Point.

At Beach No. 4, they have been catching Walleye and White Bass, just past the boat dock.

They are catching catfish on chicken livers at Beach No. 10."

NORTHERN HUMBOLDT COUNTY NEV: Tyler Turnipseed or Jim French of the NDOW Winnemucca office at (775) 623-6565: No report.

NORTH POND, NEV: No report.

ONION VALLEY RESERVOIR, NEV: The 2005 season will open on June 11.

• PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Doug and Jeannette Ouellette at the Gilly Sporting Goods Store in Sparks (358-6113) reported: "The fly fishing yesterday (Monday) at "The Nets" was phenomenal! They were catching good numbers of 5-6 pound Cutthroat trout, mostly with white and Chartreuse Popcorn Beetle flies.

The fly fishermen have been using black or purple Woolly Bugger, Woolly Worm or foam Popcorn Beetle flies.

The spincasters are using the usual TOR-P-DO type lures.

The boaters are trolling with Lyman, Apex or U-20 lures.

The jiggers are jigging with Gibb's Minnows or Maribou Jigs."

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Eric Ingraham: No report.

• SACRAMENTO RIVER, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero of Outdoor Adventures Sport Fishing, Redding, Calif. (800-670-4448) reported: Same as last week:

Redding to Anderson: Water release is 3,700 CFS and steady.

Fishing, rain or shine!

Fly fishing for rainbows is excellent. HOT!

Catching and releasing 15-25 fish a day.

This river is producing some nice rainbows, 2-5 pounds.

Drifting from Redding to Anderson.

Using No. 14 or No. 16 olive and brown Pheasant tail flies.

Also Caddis and Micro May Fly patterns working well.

Opening day of King Salmon fishing will be July 16.

SILVER LAKE, CALIF: No report.

• SHASTA LAKE, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero had the same report as last week: They are picking up some nice rainbows (1-3 pounds). Fishing is fair. Starting to see some King Salmon 60-80 feet deep. Trolling with Shad pattern lures.

SMITH RIVER, CALIF: No report.

• LAKE TAHOE - North Shore:

Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters (800-877-1462) said: "When we can get out, we've been catching our Mackinaw trout early in the morning and tagging and releasing the smaller ones.

We're catching nice fish but nothing super big.

I troll the deep-water area in front of Carnelian Bay and King's Beach with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades with live minnows or large Apex lures."

• LAKE TAHOE - North Shore:

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552): "Cal Neva Point and Agate Bay continue to be medium-to-good for Mackinaw trout, when I can get out.

The weather, yesterday (Sunday) was horrible. The wind was bending trees in half and the branches were breaking off.

Today, I've got about six inches of snow in my yard.

We are trolling with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at depths of 250-300 feet, along the edges of the drop-offs."

• LAKE TAHOE - South Shore: Gene St. Denis: "Fishing continues to be good.

Our biggest last week was 10 pounds.

I've been trolling from Ski Run to Logan Shoals, either in close in 20-60 feet of water or out deep in 200 feet.

We are trolling with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows.

Ski Run Mound has also been good for jigging with 2-ounce White Star or Squid Jigs tipped with a minnow.

Last Friday, I had Doug Busey of Douglas County and his dad fishing with me, all day, on the south end. They wanted to catch a big fish but it didn't happen."

• LAKE TAHOE - East Shore: Gene St. Denis: "Trolling has been fairly good, slow the next, on the Cave Rock Shelf.

We are trolling silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at a depth of 160-280 feet.

Toplining has been good, dependent on the day, for mostly Mackinaw and a few rainbows.

The Topliners are trolling in 20-40 feet of water with silver/black, No. 11 Rapala lures or No. 9 Count Down Rapala lures.

Chuck Bartlett of South Lake Tahoe caught a 6-pound rainbow trout with a frog-colored Flatfish near the Edgewood Golf Course Shelf.

Danny Salvadore caught an 8 pound brown trout from the Cave Rock Landing with Power Bait and a minnow.

Had a report of a 14-pound Mackinaw caught in 8- feet of water at the Cave Rock Shelf by a Sacramento fisherman."

• TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck Fields at Topaz Lake Marina (775) 266-3550 reported, "It's cold and trying to snow, but there is no wind this morning (Monday).

Easter weekend was real quiet, but the people who did come out, were catching and releasing fish, but nothing big.

There were about a half dozen boats on the lake Sunday and I don't think that there were more than 10 shore fishermen."

TOPAZ LAKE: Vicki at the Topaz Lodge General Store at (775) 266-3337: No report.

• TRUCKEE RIVER, NEV: Doug Ouellette said that the river has been "Blown Out" because of all of the rain and snow. It is beginning to clear up a little bit and will be "hit and miss'' until there are warmer days.

• WALKER LAKE, NEV: Gene Phelps of Carson City reported that he fished in his waders last Friday. He said that it was sunny and windy. He got "skunked" while spincasting at both the south and north ends of the lake.

• WILDHORSE RESERVOIR NEV: Dennis Dunn at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472 said, "It's wet, cold and cloudy this morning (Monday).

The ice is coming off the water.

A few people are still ice fishing down by the dam.

There is a loot of open water for bank fishing.

Nightcrawlers and fluorescent Marshmallows work well, also fluorescent red spinners and spoons."
