Permits required for open-burn period

The Carson City Fire Department will allow open burning Saturday to May 1.

In order to make this a safe endeavor for those involved, the City Fire Department will require a burn permit with a valid permit number before burning will be allowed.

Permit applications can be obtained beginning Monday at the following locations:

• Fire Station 1 at 777 S. Stewart Street. Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Fire Station 2 at 2400 Graves Lane and Station 3 at 4649 Snyder Ave., 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. when personnel are present - subject to emergency response.

• Online at http://www.carson-city.nv.us/ccfd.

Permits will become valid after obtaining a permit number at least one day prior to burn. Permit numbers will be issued on a walk-in basis at all three Carson City fire stations during listed operating hours or via e-mail response Monday through Friday.

The purpose of the open burn period is to provide residents an opportunity to dispose of accumulated weeds and yard debris.
