Las Vegas man arrested after high-speed chase

A high-speed chase, reaching up to 95 mph, near Schurz on Saturday ended with a Las Vegas man's arrest, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

At around 10:25 a.m. a trooper attempted to pull over a purple 1992 Chevrolet van, which was allegedly clocked at 58 mph in a 30 mph zone traveling south on Highway 95.

According to Sgt. Bob Conti of the highway patrol, Wells Michael Robert, refused to stop.

Conti said The Walker River Tribal Police Department set up road spikes but the driver maneuvered around them.

Around 11 a.m. the highway patrol and tribal police stopped the van at the junction of highways 95 and 95A, according to Conti.

Wells was booked into the Churchill County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, eluding police and possession of prescription drugs.
