Howard W. Friskey

A celebration of life for Howard W. Friskey, 83, a McGill resident for the past 52 years, will be at 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Jailhouse Motel Banquet Room in Ely.

Mr. Friskey died Nov. 20, 2005, in Carson City.

He was born Feb. 1, 1922, in Lead, S.D., to Albert and Ida M. Friskey.

Before moving to McGill, he lived for a short time in California.

Mr. Friskey served in the U.S. Air Corps for three years during World War II. He served 30 months in the South Pacific, landed in Brisbane, Australia, and ended his service in Japan.

While on detached service to the signal corps, he participated in the invasion of the Philippines.

Mr. Friskey was a life member of the American Legion and a member of the Elks Lodge for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and one grandson.

Among his survivors are his wife of 58 years, Viola of Ely; sons and daughters-in-law Howard Jr. and Valerie of Dayton, Clair and Christine of Hillsboro, Ore., and Hal and Risa of Denver; son Reggie of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Inurnment will be the Ely City Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
