Erase library fines by donating a toy

Patrons owing overdue fines can redeem themselves with Carson City Library's annual amnesty programs with toys.

Clear overdue fines, or return long-overdue items and have their fines waived, by participating in Toys For Tots through Dec. 20.

Amnesty does not apply to lost or damaged items.

The Carson City Library will become a designated drop-off location for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Foundation's Toys for Tots program, Monday through Dec. 20.

A new, unwrapped toy in original packaging will erase overdue fines. Consider selecting gifts for boys and girls, 12 years old and older, which are sometimes overlooked.

Last year, Carson City Library patrons provided more than 18 barrels full of joy for area youth (and returned hundreds of dollars worth of long-overdue library materials!)

The Carson City Library is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m.-9 p.m., and Friday, Saturday and Monday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., is at the corner of Roop and Washington streets.
