Airstream RV Club meeting for lunch

The Wally Byam Airstream RV Club, Sierra Nevada Unit, will gather for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, at JT's Basque Restaurant in Gardnerville. Members and other interested folks are invited to attend and "order from the menu" lunch. The 2006 rally schedule, which starts in the spring, will be discussed, along with the wonders of owning an Airstream. Call in your reservations so there will be seating room available for all.

DAWG seeks homes for hounds for holidays

"Home 4 The Holidays" dog adoption event, sponsored by the members of the Douglas Animal Welfare Group, will be from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. The dogs will be at Petco, Topsy Lane and Highway 395. This is a place to find your best friend for hiking, companionship and just a good old-fashion "someone to care about."

'Nutcracker' performed at Piper's

Carolyn Oliver and the Nevada Ballet Society present "The Nutcracker" at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday at Piper's Opera House in Virginia City.

This is an adaptation of the ballet featuring young dance students. T

his is an event for the whole family. Seats sell fast, so buy yours early.

Tickets are $15 adults $8, children (12 and under), $30 for a family package (2 adults and up to 4 children).

Drive Saturday to gather canned food and coats for Dayton

Come out and help support your community at this year's Winter Cans and Coats Drive from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Dayton Community Center, 170 Pike St.

Drop off canned foods and coats at the community center.
