Man hurt in wreck; alleged fugitive arrested

A Stagecoach man said the sun was in his eyes Monday when he lost control of his vehicle in Silver Springs and slammed into the side of a truck driven by an alleged fugitive from Colorado.

Trooper Rich Bailey said William Edwards, 80, was eastbound, just west of the highways 95A and 50 intersection about 7:30 a .m., when he crossed the center line and drove into the westbound shoulder.

As he swerved to go back to the eastbound lane, Edwards' vehicle struck the right side of a truck driven by Troy Pritchard, 26, of Fernley.

Edwards was taken by helicopter to Washoe Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

Pritchard was uninjured, but troopers discovered he had a felony sexual-assault warrant from Montrose County, Colo., issued in October 2003. Details of that charge were not available Monday.

Pritchard was being held in the Lyon County Jail without bail.
