Michael Berlin Batesel, 86, a Nevada resident for 58 years died Oct. 4, 2005, in Carson City. He was born Oct. 14, 1918, in Joplin, Mo., to John and Ella Castoe Batesel.
Before moving to Nevada he lived in Missouri and in Southern California.
Mr. Batesel operated the 1091 Club in Reno and met his wife, Muriel Jackson, who operated a beauty salon next door. They were married in Gardnerville in 1950.
Mr. Batesel and his wife worked together to develop many properties including one at Indian Hills, and the original Cinderlite mine north of Carson City. He also built several hotels, night clubs and casinos, including Mike's Senator Club that is now Cactus Jacks, and he was a partner in the building of what is now the Carson Station. In later years, he was a partner in an investment group with properties in Arizona and New Mexico.
Mr. Batesel enjoyed automobiles, RVs and traveling the United States.
He was preceded in death by his wife in July 2005 and nine siblings.
Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law Michael and Bansi and son Mitchell, all of Carson City; daughter and son-in-law April and Jim Enloe of Silver City; grandsons Aaron and Austin Thompson of Reno; granddaughter Amanda Batesel and great-grandson Ckayden Batesel-Wilson, also of Carson City.
A gathering for family and close friends will be announced at a later date.
Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
