It's nice to know who reads my articles and helps with the local fundraisers, but I have to apologize to Judge Griffin for saying the Carson High School Basketball Beer and Brats Night tickets would be down at Teri Basa's Sugar Pine Cove Oct. 10.
Judge Griffin came in to support our local basketball teams, as he always does, but Teri had not received her tickets yet. But they are now available so swing on by and pick them up for Saturday. This is a guaranteed great event with raffle prizes, silent auction and wine from local winemakers.
This event supports high school athletes, plus you can sample different beers with your bratwurst at the Carson Station Grill.

Now, the "Celebrities Caring for Cancer Pink Tie Event" is a little different. You get a fabulous meal at Glen Eagles, but the real fun is who will be waiting on you - will it be Governor and First Lady Guinn, Sen. Mark Amodei or news channel 8 weatherman Carlos Faura? I think I'd want Helaine Jesse, who does everything perfectly.
All tips for your celebrities will support the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center. A raffle and auction are included.
There is no admission or cover charge so bring extra tips money.

T he next fundraiser is a scavenger hunt for food. Ruth Gordon wanted me to let the public know that her children from the Mentoring Program want to give back, which is very cool. So from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, her kids and their mentors will be out in force throughout town asking for food items for FISH and Advocates to End Domestic Violence. Ruth said, "The children felt they are always on the receiving end of services so they thought it would be a great idea to give back to their community." Now that's a program that works.

Sandy at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada told me about a great program that focuses on the little ones. Sometimes, we cannot find enough to occupy children ages of 3 to 5, but that's not the case at the museum.

What: Fun times for kids who enjoy hands-on crafts.
When: 8:30-10:30 a.m. through Friday
