High-tech horse trading introduced

Looking at a digital image may doom the days when a horse trader looked a mount in the mouth.

The Bourne Equestrian, a service launched last month by Explicit Media Inc.

of Gardnerville, allows sellers and buyers to post and view images of horses and ranches for sale.

The service is found online at www.bourneequestrian.com, Dish Network Channel 223 broadcasts it at 6 p.m.

Thursdays and Charter broadcasts to northern Nevada on Channel 12 at 11 a.m.

Thursdays.

The show is hosted by Terrie Q.

Sayre and Mary Cioffl.

The website allows sellers to post a video of the horse in motion: the advertiser submits six images that are made into a short video of the horse running.

Explicit Media will send a staff person out to film local horses.

"People can look at a horse and see its movement on the Web site," says Michael Harrison, who produces, directs and edits the venue, an idea conceived by Greg Johnson, compay owner.

The four-footed choreography is backed with music by Mike Keneally.

If viewers find a horse of interest, they'll be able in the future to access an online database to check its pedigree, all the way back to foundation statistics on dams and sires.

The television show will also run features.

Viewers can follow, for instance, the birth and growth of three colts just born at the Carson Valley ranch of Stephen Bourne, one of the executive producers of the show.

To market the concept to sellers, staff at Explicit Media made calls to stable owners to offer free initial listings.

Telemarketers were then hired to continue the outreach.
