Nevada Rocky Mt. Goat season is almost over

According to Larry Gilbertson of the Nevada Department of Wildlife office in Elko, the 2005 Nevada Rocky Mountain goat hunt is going very well.

That season will end on Oct. 30. This year, there was a total quota of 27 tags (23 Resident and 4 Non-Resident tags), good for either sex.

As of Oct. 20, more than 20 goats had been taken, with all but two being males.

The largest Billie, to date, is one taken by a David Edwards (a Non-Resident hunter) in management area No. 101. It has horns that measured 10 2/8 inches on one side and 10 1/8 on the other.

In addition: One of the goats was taken by John Enos of Douglas County.

It was an 11.5 year old ram whose horns measured 9 7/8 inches.
