Carson City Women's Aglow Lighthouse is having a Thanksgiving celebration 4-7 p.m. Nov. 12 at Stewart Community Baptist Church, 5340 Snyder Ave.

Traditional food, fellowship, worship and prayer will be offered as well as viewing of a video from the 2005 Women of Faith conference, which includes speakers Patsy Clairmont, Marilyn Meberg, Luci Swindoll, Sheila Walsh and Thelma Wells.

The turkey will be provided. Bring a traditional dish to share, such as mashed potatoes, yams, pumpkin pie and others.

The meal will be shared with homeless women; attendees are asked to bring coats they no longer need.

Church opening feted

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Carson City, hosts an open house for the community from 2:30-4:30 p.m. today.

The newly built church is at 110 Clear Creek Ave. Tours of the church, harp music and light refreshments will be offered. A brief welcoming message will be at 3 p.m. Call 883-2178.

Soprano performs

Mezzo-soprano Lora Mills will be in concert at 7 p.m. tonight at First United Methodist Church in Carson City.

Mills is a theology student working on her second master's degree.

The program includes Mozart's "Alleluia" and Brahms' "Vier Ernste Gesange" and "Rejoice."

The Sacred Choir of Carson City and Bell Choir players from First United Methodist Church will also perform.

Donations will be accepted at the free concert. Call 882-1436.

Florida Boys in

concert Wednesday

The Florida Boys will be in concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church, 1505 Railroad Drive, at the corner of Saliman.

The concert is free; a donation will be accepted to help cover travel expenses.
