Fandango to match donations

Casino Fandango will accept donations to the Red Cross relief effort at its main cashier's cage until Sunday. The casino, along with Navegante Group and Olympia Gaming, will match the community's contribution up to $10,000. Checks must be made out to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief.

Concert will benefit survivors

Carson City musician Jackie Maye and other entertainers will present a concert 10 a.m. Saturday at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King St. Requested donation is $10 to benefit the disaster relief. For information call 882-9571.

All proceeds will go the relief effort.

Credit Union to match donated funds

Greater Nevada Credit Union has established a fund for the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina disaster relief efforts. Greater Nevada members can make donations at any Greater Nevada branch or by calling the member service center at (800) 421-6674. The credit union will match total donations up to $20,000.

Chamber to donate September proceeds

Carson City Chamber of Commerce will be donating all proceeds from its September events to the disaster relief efforts.

After-hours mixer

The Champion Real Estate and Manufactured Housing will donate proceeds from its "Business-After-Hours Mixer" from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 21 at 10056 Highway 50 East. Enjoy appetizers and treats, no-host beer and wine bar, and business networking. Money raised in through raffle and auction will go to disaster relief.

Membership Appreciation Barbecue Lunch

Chamber of Commerce Thank You lunch for member support will be held from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at Gibson Memorial Park between the Railroad Museum and the Chamber building. While the lunch is free, donations will be accepted for disaster relief.

Yard Sale

High Sierra Fellowship will host a yard sale Saturday in the parking lot of the church located at 1516 Highway 395 in Gardnerville. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds will be given to Samaritans Purse, the ministry of Franklin Graham, which is working with the people displaced in Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama by Hurricane Katrina. CROP Walk meeting

ComputerCorps will host an informational meetings including the ability to sign up and participate in the October CROP Walk event. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 15 at ComputerCorps, 6373 Highway 50 East. The CROP Walk is scheduled for Oct. 16 in Idlewild Park in Reno.

The Reno-Sparks CROP Walk is one of 2,000 across the country. The 3-mile walk starts at Idlewild Park and continues along the Truckee River to downtown Reno and back. Anyone can participate. A quarter of the proceeds from pledges will be divided by the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, Ridge House and the Interfaith Hospitality Network. The remainder goes to Church World Services, which is providing relief to survivors of Hurricane Katrina. Church World Services also provides funding for domestic and international hunger relief. Habitat for Humanity Virginia City fund raiser

Donations will be accepted at a Cajun barbecue at noon Saturday at the Bucket of Blood Saloon in Virginia City. Proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity, a national nonprofit organization that announced it will help low-income victims of Hurricane Katrina recover and rebuild.

Piper's Opera House Concert

A day of music is slated at the historic Piper's Opera House in Virginia City from 1-9 p.m. Saturday. Red Rose Musical Productions and Piper's Opera House present the daylong event, with all proceeds benefiting the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Musical guests include American Phlats Band, Red Rose, Rhythm Doctors, Jeff Bloyd, Stoan E. Pickens and more. Requested donations of $5.Call 847-7150.
