Carson City man sentenced to 4 years in prison for sixth drunk driving arrest

A 49-year-old Carson City man with six arrests for driving under the influence was sentenced to four years in Nevada State Prison.

Charles Webb Morash will have to serve at least 13 months before he is eligible for parole.

"I have a bad alcohol problem," Morash told District Judge Michael Gibbons. "It's in my family down the line. Something's wrong. It's time to get help."

Morash's blood-alcohol content was .33 at the time of his July 10 arrest, more than four times the .08 legal limit for driving in Nevada.

"I have to look at what you might do to another person," Gibbons said. "I'm of the opinion you can't control your behavior. I have to do it for you."

Morash, who was sentenced Aug. 29, was also fined $2,000 and when released must obtain an interlock device that determines his alcohol content before his vehicle will start.

He was stopped on Highway 88 at County Road for speeding 10 miles over the limit. His most recent prior convictions were Jan. 23, 2003, and Dec. 17, 2003.

Nevada law mandates prison for three driving-under-the-influence convictions within seven years.
