Betty L. Johnston, 83, a Gardnerville resident for the past 15 years, died Aug. 31, 2005, in Gardnerville. She was born Jan. 24, 1923, in Adel, Iowa, to John and Kathryn Merical.
Mrs. Johnston was a homemaker.
Among her survivors are her children Cheryl Sylva and Terrance Swearinger, both of Gardnerville; sister, Kathryn D. Graham; brother, Robert J. Merical; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory. FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
