BISHOP, CALIF. AREA: Gary Olson of the Bishop Creek Resorts (760-873-4484): We are back to spectacular Fall weather.

Intake No. 2: Was stocked again this week and has produced a lot of nice limits. Power Bait and Salmon eggs are best.

North Lake: A 2-pound, 6-ounce rainbow on lemon twist Power Bait. Fishing has been great.

Black or olive Woolly Worms or Power Bait seem to be best. Salmon eggs also doing well.

South Lake: A 6-pound, 3-ounce rainbow on a Woolly Bugger fly and a 5-pound, 2-ounce rainbow on a gold Super Duper lure.

Trolling with red/gold Thomas Buoyant or gold Super Duper lures on the surface have been doing very well.

Bishop Creek: Continues to produce lots of limits.

Nightcrawlers and Salmon eggs have been great. Lots of action with gold Super Dupers and small Kastmaster lures.

BISHOP, CALIF. AREA: Patti Apted of the Lake Sabrina Boat Landing (760-873-7425):

Sabrina Lake: The numbers of fishermen are down. The leaves are turning a beautiful color of red, orange and yellow, and there is a chill in the air.

Fishing was off and on, but with a bit of patience, limits were still coming out.

The inlets did well with worms, Power Bait and Salmon eggs.

The trollers used flashers and worms, Red/Gold Thomas Buoyant lures or Woolly Bugger flies to get their limits, while the drifters are drifting worms or Power Bait.

DF&G stocked the lake Tuesday with pan-size fish and a few fish tipping the scales at 2-pounds.

Alpers Ranch was here Friday to stock some nice looking Alpers Ð up to 8 pounds.

BLUE LAKES AREA, CALIF: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930): We had our big Chili Cook-Off and Arts and Crafts Show this weekend, but were a little disappointed with the turnout. I guess that there were just too many other things going on at the same time.

Upper Blue Lake: No report.

Lower Blue Lake: Was pretty good on Saturday for limits of rainbows taken with nightcrawlers, floated off the bottom.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR, CALIF: Rick Giser of Ken's Sporting Goods Store (760-932-7707) (at 11 a.m.): It is doing good and the fish are spreading out, now, from the channel.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR, CALIF: Jeffry Wenger of the Bridgeport Reservoir RV Park and Marina (888-377-1677): "Same report as last week: Fishing is still productive after this past weekend's substantial cool-down and should only contribute to even better fishing in the next six weeks.

Average sizes are still running between 13-23 inches.

Worms and lures are the norm this past week and trolling is just starting.

Getting to the channels in Buckeye Bay is proving a bit more difficult because of lowering water levels, but the shelf just to the East is loaded up with toad-size footballs that are just getting their appetites on!

Also, the East Walker Channel just to the south of the Marina, in between the weed beds and off of Rainbow Point, are seeing a lot of fish."

CARSON RIVERS, CALIF:

East Carson River: Brad Davis of the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229): We got lots of big fish to report:

A 8.5 pound rainbow on nightcrawlers on the 10th by Dave Peters of Dayton.

A 6.5 pound (25.5 inch) rainbow on Salmon eggs on the 18th by Josh Lovejoy of Placerville.

A 6-pound rainbow (25 inch) on Salmon eggs on the 18th by Jarad Lovejoy of Placerville.

A 6-pound, 14-ounce and a 5-pound, 10-ounce rainbow, both on a Panther/Martin lure on the 16th by Terry Harold of Rocklin.

A 6-pound, 11-ounce, a 4-pound, 9-ounce and a 3-pound, 11-ounce rainbow, all on nightcrawlers and Salmon eggs on the 16th by Dan Jones of Sacramento.

West Carson River: Dave Kirby reported that Jesse Schwinn of Reno caught not one, but three, 7.5 pound rainbows on Saturday. He was fishing the deeper holes with Panther/Martin lures.

In addition, Russ Griffis of Gardnerville caught a 9.1 pound rainbow, also on Saturday with a Panther/Martin lure.

FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR, CALIF: Wiggin's Trading Post at Chilcoot, Calif. (530-993-4683): Trout fishing is spotty at the moment.

Trolling for rainbow was slow over the weekend. Size is 12-14 inches. Use nightcrawlers. Bank fishermen use Power Bait or worms.

Fly fishing at north end is somewhat productive.

HINKSON SLOUGH, NEV: Elmer Bull reported that the trout and bass fishing has really lit up at Hinkson Slough. The weed growth has subsided significantly with the cooling weather. He talked to a few people last week who were catching a lot of fish. Not much for size but they were having fun and the trout were feeding voraciously on top.

INDIAN CREEK RESERVOIR, CALIF: Dave Kirby reported the fishing is picking up with the cooler weather. It is still slow but very fishable.

LAHONTAN RESERVOIR, NEV: Missy Swain at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750): "The weather has cooled down quite a bit, out here.

Boats are still capable of launching both sides of the reservoir.

This is the Wiper season and we have people out here, fishing for Wipers.

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Opens to Lahontan cutthroat trout fishing on Oct. 1.

SACRAMENTO RIVER, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero of Outdoor Adventures Sport Fishing, Redding, Calif. (800-670-4448) reported:

Redding to Anderson: Water flows at 7,900 CFS.

Rainbow Trout:

Fly fishing is good. Catching and releasing many nice rainbows, 2-6 pounds.

Using No. 14 or No. 16 Pheasant tail flies. Micro May Fly patterns were working well.

Drifting Redding to Anderson, mornings and evenings are great.

Spin fishing is good with Glo Bugs and Crickets.

King Salmon:

Is great! The Salmon are in! Limits!

Catching nice Kings in the Corning area, using Flatfish lures and bouncing roe.

Salmon are ranging in size: 15-30 pounds.

Watch for November to produce even bigger Kings.

SILVER LAKE, CALIF: Linda Thorbjornson at Kay's Silver Lake Resort (209-258-8598): "We had two nice fish caught on the 16th: A 6.3 pound rainbow on a Kastmaster lure and a 5.8 pound rainbow on nightcrawlers. They were caught by two different fishermen from shore.

We had a lot of wind and cool weather over the weekend, but it is beautiful this morning (Monday).

SILVER LAKE, CALIF: Joe Hawley of Carson City reported that he, Steve Baxter and Bill Mowbray of Carson City caught and released a total of 35 trout on Sunday.

Hawley caught the most with 16, Mowbray had 14 and Baxter finished last with 5.

They were trolling attractor blades and worms.

SHASTA LAKE, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero reported the lake is producing nice rainbow trout, 2-6 pounds. Fishing 80 ft deep. Trolling shad pattern lures. Fishing around the Digger Bay area and main body of lake.

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore:

Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters (800-877-1462): "The fishing has been excellent on every trip. We've been catching our Mackinaw trout early in the morning and tagging and releasing the smaller ones.

We're catching lots of fish, but nothing super big.

I am trolling the deep-water area in front of Carnelian Bay and King's Beach with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades with live minnows or large Apex lures."

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore:

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552): "The Tahoe City Shelf, Agate Bay, Cal Neva Point and Dollar Point have all been excellent, early in the morning, slower in the afternoons.

We're catching lots of fish, with easy limits.

We are trolling for Macks with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at depths of 100-250 feet, along the edges of the drop-offs."

LAKE TAHOE - South Shore: Gene St. Denis: "Fishing is good.

Best places have been Ski Run Mound and Camp Richardson.

We are trolling 150-250 feet deep with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows."

LAKE TAHOE - East Shore:

Gene St. Denis: "Fishing has been good.

We are trolling silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at a depth of 150-250 feet.

Working the Cave Rock Shelf for Macks. Most are 1-4 pounds."

TOPAZ LAKE: Topaz Lake will close for 2005 fishing on Sept. 30.

TWIN LAKES, CALIF:

Upper Twin Lake: Annett's Mono Village (760-932-7071) (Ask for the boat house): Kokanee salmon are headed up Robinson Creek for spawning. Lots of browns following.

The Cove area is very active fishing now. Browns are feeding close to the surface.

A 4-pound, 11-ounce brown on a gold Thomas Buoyant lure, and a 4-pound, 6-ounce rainbow and a 3-pound, 7-ounce rainbow, both taken with a green Woolly Bugger fly.

VIRGINIA LAKES, CALIF: Carolyn Webb of the Virginia Lakes Resort: A great cold snap hit the Eastern Sierra late last week dropping the temps to flower freezing stage, but is slowly returning and expected to be a great Indian summer.

Salmon eggs have been great most of the week, together with nightcrawlers and lures (Hot Shot, Cripple, Rainbow Roostertail, and red/gold Super Duper).

Trumbull Lake had a few DF&G rainbows in the 2-3 pound range on Power Bait and Power Worms.

Little Virginia Lake saw terrific action from the boat dock using crickets.

Big Virginia Lake has been great for tubers using Maribou streamers in a variety of colors and styles. Even Bunny Leeches worked well.

WALKER RIVERS, CALIF: Rick Giser reported:

East Walker: Has been doing good, mostly with small streamers, Caddis or Midge flies.

West Walker: Doing excellent, right now with lots of action with dry flies or small spinners.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR, NEV: Dennis Dunn at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472: "We've got beautiful days, up here, and the nights have been down to 15-20 degrees. Dress warm if you're coming up here.

The fish are turning on, with the cooler weather.

They are picking up more and more trout and Perch.
