Three arrested in armed robbery

Three Carson City men were arrested Tuesday night after allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint.

According to Carson City Sheriff's Sgt. Bob White, the victim was invited to a home on Harrison Lane on the pretext of buying a stereo. When he arrived, he was allegedly confronted by Rudy Perez, 28, armed with an AK-47 assault rifle. Perez was in the company of his brother Michael Perez, 27; William Zachary Heflin, 21, and a fourth man.

"They get $100 to $200 from him, and then he runs off and leaves his car," said White.

The man called police from a bar on Airport Road at about 7 p.m.

According to the police report, Heflin was arrested as he walked out of his Harrison Lane home. Rudy Perez was allegedly found hiding in a crawl space underneath the residence with a clip for the rifle and marijuana, and Michael Perez was found south of the northeast Carson home, said White.

The assault rifle was recovered from a shed in the back yard. Another weapon allegedly held by either Perez or the fourth man during the robbery was not recovered, White said.

Rudy Perez was booked on suspicion of felony robbery with a deadly weapon and a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant. His bail was set at $40,632.

Michael Perez was booked on suspicion of felony robbery with a deadly weapon. His bail was set at $40,000. Heflin was arrested on suspicion of felony principal to robbery. His bail was set at $25,000.

White said the fourth man was identified as Omar Segura. He was not at the location when police arrived.

"Omar Segura is wanted for questioning. Anybody with info leading to the location of Omar Segura, give us a call," White said.

He said Secret Witness will be contacted today to offer a reward for information. Detectives can be reached at (775) 887-2020 ext. 1400.
