This year's annual Tin Cup Tea and Chuck Wagon Barbecue will feature the auctioning off of a limited-edition print of the legendary Doc Holliday on Saturday.

The event, initiated by first lady Dema Guinn, includes a Western barbecue, dancing to the music of David John and the Comstock Cowboys and a performance by the Guns and Gals of Virginia City

The fund-raiser benefits the Nevada State Museum in Carson City and the W.M. Keck Earth Science and Mineral Engineering Museum at the Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering, University of Nevada, Reno.

Gov. Kenny Guinn will conduct the live auction during the Tin Cup Tea, which is from 6-10 p.m. at the Governor's Mansion. The auction includes a portrait of Holliday performing his chosen profession of dentistry.

"Funds raised by the Tin Cup Tea allow for important programming and operational improvements that otherwise could not happen," said Dema Guinn. "These cultural institutions play an important role in preserving Nevada's heritage."

Guests will be offered tours of the Governor's Mansion and the chance to see the unique Mackay Tiffany Silver, historic couture fashions, wagons and buggies and Nevada mineral and fossil specimens.

Attendees can also experience fashion through history as couture and designer gowns are exhibited selected by Curator Jan Loverin.

Pieces include a Fortuny gown from 1904, an Emile Pingat from the 1890s, a Hattie Carnegie suit and a Jacque Fath from the 1940s, and a Mr. Blackwell cocktail dress, among others. Mrs. Guinn will also be selecting some of her personal designer gowns, including one she wore to the opening of the Wynn Las Vegas Casino for the exhibition. A selection of historic hats and accessories will also be on display.

The museum will also be showcasing an 1870s three-piece purple silk gown which was recently restored by textile conservator Sandy Troon of Portland, Ore. Troon will be available at the event to answer questions about the art and skill of textile conservatorship. A portion of the proceeds from the Tin Cup Tea are used to restore these artifacts.
