After Katrina: You can help

Volunteers are needed from 10-2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday to accept donations of goods for evacuees in Northern Nevada at "Katrina's Hope - The Open Door Relocation Project" at the old Wal-Mart building, 4209 S. Carson St. Call Tammi Geraci at 691-4039 or visit Katrina's Hope.org. Nonperishable food items, clothing sorted by gender, size and style in boxes, toys, toiletries, vehicles, cash, phone cards are needed. To donate furniture contact Eric Barry at 450-1712. Donations accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday-Tuesday.

Credit Union to match donated funds

Greater Nevada Credit Union has established a fund for the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina disaster relief efforts. Donate at any branch or by calling (800) 421-6674. The credit union will match donations up to $20,000.

Proscenium Players, Inc. donates play proceeds

Proscenium Players, Inc., will donate the proceeds from its Sept. 24 performance of "The Foreigner," by Larry Shue, to the American Red Cross to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Reservations. Admission is $12 general or $10 for seniors, students and PPI and BAC members. Call 883-1976.

After-hours mixer

The Champion Real Estate and Manufactured Housing will donate proceeds from its "Business-After-Hours Mixer" from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at 10056 Highway 50 East. Enjoy appetizers and treats, no-host beer and wine bar, and business networking. Money raised through a raffle and auction will go to disaster relief.

Membership Appreciation Barbecue Lunch

A Chamber of Commerce Thank-You Lunch for member support will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at Gibson Memorial Park between the Railroad Museum and the Chamber building. While the lunch is free, donations will be accepted for disaster relief.
