Land acquisition will be the priority over the next two years for the Carson City Airport, according to the master plan unveiled at Wednesday's board meeting.
The board pitched its five-year master plan to Federal Aviation Administration Western Region Manager Andy Richards.
In the third year, officials hope to remove the hill on the airport property. In the fourth year they would like to build the taxiway on the north side of the runway. Officials would like to reconstruct the runway in the fifth year.
A delegation will be sent to Burlingame, Calif., to work on the details of the master plan with FAA officials. The delegation includes board members Gary Handelin and Collie Hutter; airport counsel Steve Tackes; airport engineer Jim Clague; airport manager Yvon Weaver.
Three positions are open on the Carson City Airport Authority. The city board of supervisors is accepting applications for the four-year terms until Oct. 19. Board members invest 10 to 16 hours per month and they oversee all matters pertaining to the Carson City Airport. All applicants will be interviewed by the supervisors.
The openings:
• Fixed-base operator, candidate must be based at the airport
• Industrial, candidate must be a manufacturer in the Carson City Industrial Airpark, but not a fixed-base operator
• Citizen at large
