Going for a ride: Fremont students rewarded with limo outing

The Fremont Parent-Teacher Association just completed its Innisbrook fund-raiser and this year, as an added incentive, we decided to reward the top-selling student from each grade and two randomly drawn students with an hourlong ride in a limousine and a special lunch at Sonic.

Our theme for Innisbrook was "Rock 'n' Roll" so we thought Sonic would be the place to go. I made arrangements with the Sonic manager, Allen, for our group, and he was kind enough to put a special message on the Sonic sign and make special sundaes for the students. They loved it.

The students were picked by a super-stretch white limousine and chauffeured to lunch and down main street before returning to school. We wanted to treat the students like rock stars, so they were each given a special limousine pass, dark rock-'n'-roll sunglasses, flashing guitar pins and top-notch service, including a red carpet rolled out for them upon entering the limousine. The ride was definitely a hit, and our fund-raiser the best yet, raising more than $22,000 for our school.

Our lucky winners were Katlynn Shepard, fifth grade; Steven Robledo, fourth grade; Garrett Nicholson, third grade; Todd Lani, second grade; Stella Carroll, first grade; and Brynn Lehman, kindergarten. Our random drawing winners were Odalis Perez, first grade; and Gabe Tucker, second grade.

Fremont School would like to thank all of the students, parents, PTA and staff for their help and support with our fund-raiser. We would also like to send out a very special thank you to Sonic of Carson City, Mission Industries of Carson City and Executive Limousine of Reno.
