Reno couple buys Blue Moon

For the 12 years he worked in sales and marketing most recently as a senior account manager for large groups with Anthem Blue Cross Klaus Grimm of Reno hoped to establish some roots in a small business.

His hopes came to reality this month when K&KG Investments LLC, a company launched by Grimm and his wife, Kristin, purchased Blue Moon Advertising & Promotion in Reno.

They purchased the advertising specialty company from co-founders Martin Fitch and Gerard Greiner.

Fitch will continue to serve as a consultant in sales to the new owner while Greiner will continue as chief financial officer.

Terms of the acquisition, which was brokered by Katrina Loftin and Wayne Kemmerle of BTI Group Mergers and Acquisitions in Reno, weren't disclosed.

"We always wanted to find something local," said Grimm.

"It's the American dream."

Fitch and Greiner had launched a pet store and a retail shipping store before they created Blue Moon eight years ago. Today, the company has access to a million advertising specialty items including clothing.

"It was important to us to find someone who would take the business to the next level," Fitch said.

Grimm, meanwhile, said the purchasers initially were attracted to Blue Moon by its financial performance but they were sold on intangibles.

"We heard very good things about Blue Moon," he said. "We heard about high quality service and the way they've given back to the community."
