Fitness motivation delivered by Web-based business in Reno

New Year's resolutions to get into shape fail, says Michael Seriosa, because people lack a support system to maintain motivation. So he launched SierraFitnessTalk.com a Reno-based online health and fitness forum. It's meant to educate, motivate and help people achieve their fitness goals.

Seriosa has energy and to spare. He works a fulltime job, and on the side runs an online marketing company, IfoxMedia.com. And, he works out. For the past five years, he's competed in body building activities and took a Nevada state championship in his weight class. And, he's worked as a training coach.

The Web site, four months old, has one paid advertiser so far, and Seriosa expects it to take six months to a year to become profitable.

However, a Web-based business doesn't take much money to start. Time is something else, and Seriosa says that had he built the site for someone else, it would have cost $2,000 to $3,000.

The site is free to participants, who need only register. Seriosa's plan is to reap income from advertisers. And, he hopes to enter into partnerships with entities like Body for Life, a program run by the magazine Muscle 2000.

The site, he says, is drawing people who want to get in shape but don't want to pay a trainer.

"I don't want to take business away from trainers, but if people can't afford that, it's good that they can at least learn," Seriosa says.
