UP certifies tracks at industrial center

The Union Pacific Railroad has tested and certified the first three miles of track that will be used for rail service within the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.

Companies located along the tracks will now be able to install switches and track so that rail cars can go directly to their facilities.

TRI executives said they will contract with a company to provide train engines to handle the delivery of cars within the center after taking them from the main Union Pacific line.

An additional three miles of track is currently being put down.

The 104,000-acre industrial center is along Interstate 80 at Patrick.
