ABC seeks apprenticeship applicants

Associated Builders & Contractors Sierra Nevada Chapter is enrolling its next class of apprentices, who will begin study August 28.

The application deadline is July 14. The program is open to men and women 18 years and older who graduated from high school or completed a GED diploma. Students who will work on their GED during the first year of the apprenticeship also can apply.

Plumbing, electrical and carpentry apprenticeships run four years. Residential electric and residential plumbing programs run three years.

Thirty-five apprentices graduated from the ABC program in May.

Dustin Koelzler was recognized as top apprentice in the class. Christopher Sharpe was honored as top plumbing apprentice, Larry Walburn as the top residential plumbing apprentice and John Vermillion as craft champion competitor.

Marc Brumbaugh and Justin Baldwin were honored as electrical instructors of the year and Dale Lowery was honored as plumbing instructor of the year.
