Salesforce.com philantropy spotlighted at EDAWN event

The corporate philanthropy model developed by Salesforce.com will be spotlighted during the annual luncheon of the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada.

The event begins at 11 a.m. May 2 at John Ascuaga's Nugget.

Steve Wright, program and technical director for the Salesforce Foundation, will discuss how his company has leveraged community partnerships and social responsibility as a key part of its business

The Salesforce Foundation's 1/1/1 model allocates 1 percent of Saleforce's product to nonprofit organizations, 1 percent of equity to community programs and dedicates 1percent of employee time to volunteerism.

Since July 2000, the foundation has opened more than 60 Community Technology Centers around the world serving close to 100,000 youth and other community members, has provided nearly 20,000 hours of service to the community through employee volunteers and offers its CRM application to more than 700 nonprofits internationally.

Before Wright's presentation, EDAWN will present its "Business of the Year" awards recognizing one large company and one small company for doing business in northern Nevada.
