Geothermal project gets OK

Amp Resources LLC of Draper, Utah, won permission from the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada to replace an existing geothermal power plant in Churchill County.

The company will build the 26-megawatt Stillwater II Geothermal Plant about 15 miles east of Fallon.

It replaces a seven-megawatt plant.

The plant is scheduled to be begin commercial service by the end of 2007, selling its production to Nevada Power Co.
