Ribeiro plans Carson City project

The Ribeiro Companies plans a 40,000-square-foot mixed use development, Carson Tahoe Quail Park, on a 3.65 acre parcel located behind Albertson's on South Carson Street.

Although the company is still working with Carson City on the planning process, it estimates that about 90 percent of the space would go to retail tenants, with professional offices taking the rest.

Insurance and mortgage companies like to be in a retail cluster, says Erin Riccio, leasing manager.

The Ribeiro Companies, which is also the architect and builder, hopes to break ground by August or September, says Riccio, and have shells ready to market by June 2007.

Behind the commercial center, on the remaining 6.65 acres, a residential builder would erect compact single-family homes.

The property was formerly the Oasis Mobile Home Park, located in a redevelopment district that stretches from Fairview to the Douglas County line.

The initial redevelopment district included downtown.

The second district started out as an incentive to retain and expand auto dealerships, says Robin Williams, Carson City supervisor.

It now includes all retail, and reaches west to Curry Street and east as far as Roop Street in places, due to development interest following progress of the Highway 395 bypass to south Carson City.
