Workforce, regulatory climate lead agenda for tech summit

Two key issues workforce development and the regulatory environment will be spotlighted during a technology summit in Reno next week.

Safra Catz, the president and chief financial officer of Oracle, will be the keynote speaker for the event hosted by U.S. Sen. John Ensign.

The summit will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Sierra Building of the Dandini campus of Truckee Meadows Community College. It's free, but attendance is limited to 200 and registration is required by Tuesday at rsvpreno@ensign.senate.gov.

Discussion sessions will focus on the steps Nevada and the rest of the United States can take to remain competitive in the global economy.

One of the sessions will deal with regulation, taxation and litigation as barriers to investment. The other will look at the educational needs of future workers, particularly their needs in math, science, engineering and technology.
