Companies donate land for flood-control project

Spanish Springs Associates and Hawco Properties donated 96 acres to Washoe County for a flood-control project. Peavine Construction of Sparks will build the project through a contract with Washoe County.

The project in the works for more than 20 years is designed to reduce flood danger for hundreds of homes in Spanish Springs, reduce roadway flooding on Pyramid Highway and alleviate downstream flooding at Sparks.
