Buffalo Wild Wings to enter market

The first Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant in northern Nevada will open at Summit Sierra in late November or early December, and the franchisee for the area hopes to open three or four more stores in coming years.

Sam Benne of Rapid City, S.D., whose BEK LLC owns the franchise rights for Buffalo Wild Wings in the region, expects to open one store a year.

Locations for future restaurants haven't been nailed down, Benne said. The company is looking at Sparks and Carson sites as well as Reno.

The parent company, Minneapolis-based Buffalo Wild Wings Inc., says restaurants typically are located in 5,000- to 6,000-square-foot spaces, either on freestanding pads or endcaps of shopping centers.

Benne said he decided to open Buffalo Wild Wings franchises in northern Nevada to capitalize on the region's rapid population growth.

Nationwide, 405 Buffalo Wild Wings stores are operating in 36 states. Of those, 132 are company owned and the remainder are franchised.
