Lawson expands Reno facility, staff

Lawson Products will more than double the size of its distribution center in Reno, and Lawson's employment is growing as well.

The company based at Des Plaines, Ill, serves the western states from the distribution center at 1381 Capital Blvd. It sells industrial and automotive maintenance items, and the Reno center handles the company's full line.

When the expansion is complete, Lawson will occupy about 250,000 square feet, said Neil Jenkins, the company's executive vice president. It will be the largest of the 17 distribution centers operated by Lawson Products in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

The company expects to move into the new space in mid-2007.

Jenkins said the company expects to add about 30 workers to its current staff of 45 when the expansion is complete.
